A Brief History of Botany in America
October 28 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Speaker: Claudine Lebeau. Cost: $15; free for fall subscribers and SU students and employees. The great American botanical adventure began with frontier fieldwork that expanded the world’s encyclopedic knowledge of plants. This tradition evolved from collecting and naming species into a broader ecological way of thinking that helped inspire conservation efforts influencing environmental policy worldwide. Claudine Lebeau is a French native living in Shepherdstown who has been passionate about botany for decades and has led guided walks with the Maryland Native Plant Society.
