Making Space for Difference: A Path to a More Vibrant Community
Speaker: Ashley Horst. Cost: $15; free for fall subscribers and SU students and employees. What does it really mean to create a community where differences aren’t just tolerated, but welcomed—and even considered a strength? In this engaging and thought-provoking lecture, we’ll explore how making space for a range of perspectives enriches our shared experiences and improves the communities we care about. Drawing from examples in history, culture, and everyday life, we’ll consider why diverse viewpoints can feel challenging—and why they’re essential for growth, creativity, and deeper understanding. Ashley Horst is Executive Director of the Stubblefield Institute for Civil Political Communications at Shepherd University.
