Rewriting and Representation

Rewriting and Representation: How Do We Remember Our Nation’s Past?
The representation of American history in our museums, parks, schools and other public spaces has become subject to intense debate. This American Conversation will examine the evolution of historical representation in recent decades and the implications of these changes. The discussion will further consider approaches to presenting history in a manner that is grounded in evidence and broadly accepted, while also addressing the extent to which historical interpretation and public memory are influenced by political perspectives.
